Casa Guidi Cutwind
In this knife edge corner
I live
Shearing the bitter east winds
Of my ancestry
With you my brother poet,
Lover poet,
Father poet,
Man mirror-
I look to thee
Through thee
At me.

Casa Guidi Cutwind
A ships prow
Slicing through life sea
Smooth as this paper.
The storm over the horizon
Crushed me once
And will again.

Casa Guidi Cutwind
Cracking that dark cocoon of my own spinning
I fly with you
My brother poet
To this warm wedge
Place of redemption
Happiness the gods envy
How long can it last
This butterfly life.

Casa Guidi Cutwind
His kiss going through me
Like the footsteps of a barefoot child
Running through the rooms.
Pomegranate that I am,
I burst open
In birth of
A gentle young son
Naming himself
The instrument of love
That he was.

Casa Guidi Cutwind
She was born here,
Dawning of hope
Daughter of Art
Dawning of Love
Daughter of future
I release her to thee.

Casa Guidi Cutwind
Looking over the edge
I witness
A child's song
Crushed like grapes-
Blood-wine of a nation,
Old bottles will not hold,
Saturating black earth red.
I taste my own death
In its echo.

Casa Guidi Cutwind
The story is written
And now it must end
This glimmer on the knife point
Reflection of the fire gift
So dearly paid for.

Casa Guidi Cutwind
The wound of my mortality opens
Like a tiny seaward window
And leaving my body,
Masonry tomb,
I step through
To the full knowing light
Arcing in the night sky
Source of my inspiritus
Beautiful..beautiful!
